Valentine’s Day is fast approaching so whether you fit into the one-quarter of the men out there who admit that they celebrate the holiday out of obligation or you’re a true bachelor hoping to get ‘lucky’…your date deserves a whole lot more than showing up with some flowers from the bodega around the corner. You see, we ladies, have expectations of men on a date…gentlemanly qualities like opening doors, chivalry and romance go a long way but I know you know these by now. How you show up to your date is just as important, if not more important. Don’t forget that good style and grooming matter to us, too!

Dress it up with a jacket. Note, the right fit makes all the difference. Is the shoulder sitting in the right place? Are the sleeves too long? Women are very observant and notice every little detail. She has a mental checklist even if she doesn’t realize it but make no mistake; she’s ticking off the boxes…check, check!

The V-neck sweater is a great way to dress up your dark denim jeans or even add a bit of color to your look. Take note of these guys as both sweaters fit impeccably well with no excess fabric at the waist.

Layer it. Start from the bottom up with a great pair of flat front pants or slim fit jeans. Top it off with a pull over sweater and cool leather jacket or a stylish button down & blazer combo.

So before you choose what to wear, ask yourself…is your clothing working for you or against you? Is your fit, color and style on point? These details matter and a little effort makes all the difference to her. So while you’re racking your brain over which restaurant to pick and what flowers she will like best, I want to help you show up looking to impress. From dressed-up to dressed-down to somewhere-in-between, depending on how serious things are, use these tips to put yourself together for the big evening — Your style wing woman’s got you covered.

And of course if you need my help picking out your date attire or any other style advice, you can drop me a line here.
